Tesla Cybertruck Owners Receive FSD v14, Call it a "Massive Leap"

Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (Supervised) software has been a story of slow, incremental progress, but the latest update, v14.1.7, appears to be a genuine step-change. The update began rolling out to Cybertruck owners and other Hardware 4-equipped vehicles this week, and the first-drive reactions are flooding social media.

The consensus? This one is different.

While previous versions were often criticized for “brake-stabbing” (sudden, phantom braking) or hesitant behavior at intersections, v14.1.7 is being described as “buttery smooth” and “confident.”

Videos posted by Cybertruck owners show the massive stainless steel truck navigating complex city streets with a new level of assertiveness. Owners are highlighting several key improvements:

  • Smoother Turns: The vehicle no longer makes jerky, robotic-feeling turns, instead blending steering and acceleration more like a human driver.
  • Better Lane Choice: FSD appears to be more intelligent about choosing the correct lane for navigation far in advance, resulting in fewer last-minute, aggressive lane changes.
  • Reduced Hesitation: At unprotected left turns and stop signs, the system is reportedly “creeping” forward and making decisions with more confidence, reducing the frustration of drivers behind it.

“This is the first version where I’m not constantly hovering my foot over the accelerator, ready to correct it,” said one Cybertruck owner in an online forum. “It’s a massive leap in usability.”

While still a “Supervised” system requiring full driver attention, v14 is the clearest sign yet that Tesla’s AI-driven approach is paying dividends, finally delivering the smooth, naturalistic driving behavior it has long promised.
