Rivian R2 Revealed: The Model Y Competitor We've Been Waiting For

Rivian has officially unveiled the R2, a midsize SUV that sits below the R1S in the lineup. With a starting price of $45,000, it’s aiming directly at the Tesla Model Y.

Design and Specs

The R2 retains the distinctive Rivian look but in a smaller package. It features a structural battery pack and will be available with single, dual, and tri-motor powertrains. 0-60 mph is claimed to be under 3 seconds for the top model.

Surprise: The R3

In a “one more thing” moment, Rivian also showed off the R3 and R3X, even smaller crossovers with a retro-rally vibe that stole the show. Production for the R2 is slated to begin in 2026.
