Touchscreens Have Ruined Car Interiors
I recently drove a car where I had to tap a screen three times just to turn on the heated seats. This is madness. The trend of replacing physical buttons with massive touchscreens has gone too far.
Safety First
Muscle memory is a real thing. You can reach for a volume knob or a temperature dial without taking your eyes off the road. You cannot do that with a touchscreen. It requires visual attention, which means you aren’t looking at the road.
The “Clean” Aesthetic
Designers love the clean look of a button-free dash. Accountants love it because screens are cheaper than complex switchgear. But drivers hate it. Thankfully, some manufacturers like Mazda and Honda are fighting back, keeping tactile controls for essential functions.
